Mediterranean Harmonies - Massimo Scattolin (guitar)
Date
Monday 11th January, 11.00AM
Venue
St Paul's, Clunes
Duration
60 minutes
From the sunlit landscapes of Spain to the evocative mythology of Greece, Italian guitarist Massimo Scattolin takes us on a musical journey around the Mediterranean.
The recital brings together the colour and lyricism of Spanish guitar music, from the passionate intensity of Tárrega’s Capricho árabe and Albéniz’s celebrated Asturias to the haunting beauty of songs by Federico García Lorca, arranged for guitar by Scattolin himself. The much-loved La Paloma adds a touch of nostalgic charm.
The journey concludes with Scattolin’s own Greek Myth, a suite of eight evocative miniatures inspired by Greek places, mythology and muses. Rich in atmosphere and imagination, this is a celebration of the Mediterranean’s diverse musical heritage, brought to life through the expressive possibilities of the solo guitar.
